Rafting Vorderrhein
The Rhine rises near the Oberalppass at the Tomasee. On the first 50 km up to Ilanz the initially small brook grows up to a stately river. From there, the Vorderrhein has been working through one of Europe's largest collapses (Flimser Bergsturz) for about 10,000 years. With his persevering flow he has dug himself up to 300 meters deep into the limestone on the twenty kilometers to Reichenau. The result is a natural monolith with bizarre rock formations, surreal rock-needle groups, enormous stone fungi and hollowed-out steep walls.
Today the river is on the original Talsole and from the raft you can be wonderfully enchanted by this unique landscape. You will experience the whole fascination of nature in the Ruinaulta and a mixture of racy whitewater and cozy driving on quieter sections.
The Federal Council was also impressed and protected the canyon under national protection in 1977, before the Matterhorn and the Rhine Falls. Many call the "Vorderrhein gorge", the "Swiss Grand Canyon"; we prefer the Romansh "Ruinaulta".
In Reichenau the Vorderrhein merge with the Hinterrhein and from here on is called Rhine and flows into the North Sea after a further 1250 km to Rotterdam.

Overnight tour Rafting Vorderrhein
Expedition style rafting tour with overnight stay in the Rhine Gorge. You spend the night together with our guides on the shore directly in the breathtaking Rhine Gorge.
